outbid.lol for EU companies
A leaderboard anyone can pay into is a list of people with a card. A leaderboard that checks VAT numbers against the European Commission's own service is one where every entry cleared that check when it joined.
Article 1 · What the gate does
Before a new listing's Checkout session is created, the VAT number is validated against VIES. Invalid, malformed and non-EU numbers are refused and no session is created. Where VIES returns a legal name, that is what the board publishes beside the listing, rather than a name someone typed.
Raising a listing already on the board does not repeat that check, because the listing carries the identity it was admitted with, and a different business may raise it. Nobody can add one without clearing VIES first.
A VIES check proves a VAT number exists. It does not prove the person paying represents that company, and this site does not claim otherwise. The invoice goes to whoever pays, under the tax details they give Stripe.
Article 2 · What you get
- A listing beside your country, and the registered legal name VIES returns for you where it returns one.
- An EU invoice, with reverse charge where it applies.
- Server-side click counts on your outbound link.
- A share card for the rank you bought.
Common questions
What does the VIES check prove?
That the VAT number exists and is valid in the member state that issued it. It does not prove the person paying represents that company, and this site does not claim it does.
Which countries can create a listing?
All 27 member states. Greece is EL here rather than GR, because that is the prefix its VAT numbers carry and the one VIES answers to.
What happens if VIES is down for my country?
The bid is refused rather than waved through, and the page names the member state that is unavailable. You can leave an address there and get one email when the check works again.
What does the board show about my business?
The domain, the member state, and the registered name where VIES returns one. Several member states answer with a verdict and no name, and those listings show the country and the domain alone.
